I missed the first 30 minutes, so now he's taking questions.

Is it just me that thinks this guy is a moron?

Still doin' the "stay the course" thing, the only "adaptive" part of the Bush Strategery is that he will stop saying "stay the course." Oh, wow that's so innovative.

Wow! Bush just said one of our primary missions is to prevent a full-scale civil war.

Interesting.

If you're at your computer, you should stream this thing. Bush looks like he's been drinking.

He's not answering any questions, just BS'ing.

I wasn't expecting much, everytime the White House announces that Bush is making a big statement on Iraq or the WoT, it's just a rehash of all the previous talking points, they are just all being trotted out in the same speech instead of in bits and pieces.

Question: What are the benchmarks, how will they be assessed, and what will you do if they are not met?

Bush: yada yada yada "we're working on the benchmarks" yada yada yada "We won't impose benchmarks on a sovereign government" yada yada yada "I can't answer hypotheticals" yada yada yada

Too bad that wasn't one of his missions in 2003, we might have kept our arses out of it.

BS we won't, we have to. They need to get it together or we need to leave, our patience isn't infinite. That kind of attitude is unacceptable. Our blood and treasure is being spilled to prop up this sovereign governement and we don't have unlimited supplies of both that we will commit on a whim.

What a crock.

This tells me that he isn't serious about getting the job done, it seems ok for him to keep plodding along with this crap going on until he gets out of office, retires to the ranch and clears brush, never having to think about it again.

Bush reminds me of Icarus, he has tried to fly too high with the tools that his father gave him and has crashed, it was inevitable.

Terrar, terrar ideology, hard work, smirk, terrar, WW2, terrar, long struggle, no wmd's, Iran Nucleer, smirk, terrar, ideology, hard work, fight there so we don't fight here, terrar, smirk ...repeat. Dd I miss anything?

Seriously, this speech was really no different other than he actually admitted to have made a few minutes, like that little thing baout no wmd's, which happened to be the reason for going into Iraq in the first place :) Other than that just a repeat of previous speeches and really no change in actual policy.

Also, did anyone notice North Korea wasn't even mentioned until the questions started, but he did mention Iran making a bomb.

Thats what I've noticed as well. He can definately come off as a rude prick.
Kind of reminds me of Bill Parcells after every Dallas Cowboy press conference; same attitude.

Except Parcells actually gets something right every once in a while. :)

I must have missed it.

Just as much of a point as Bush having a primetime news conference (just before the election, no less) to give people the same old BS with a different wrapper on it.

I do think he didn't come off nearly as arrogant as he usual, at least it seemed that way to me. Of course after the election he will be back to his bull-headed, arrogant self again.

What is with all the "Bush is arrogant" stuff?

What about Clinton and his finger wag? His "how dare you ask me that question" attitude that he gave Wallace?

BTW: Rush is playing segments of the conference now...

So Prof, if Clinton did something that is "bad", and then Bush does the same thing, is it OK then?

It is not about it being "bad" it is that no one talks about Clinton being arrogant, it's the double standard.

LMAO, a Bush supporter complaining about the double standard. You mean like GWB saying how proud he is of the troops making the sacrafices that he did his best to get out of when it was his turn to make them??

That's bullsh!t, you guys called him arrogant in the thread discussing Clinton's interview with Wallace. Now this thread is about Bushes Press conference so he's the subject of conversasion and some think he's arrogant. Deal with it.
