Bush new jobs agenda

This week, we learned that President Bush supports sending American jobs overseas. The White House released a report that said "When a good or service is produced more cheaply abroad, it makes more sense to import it than to make it or provide it domestically."

And one of President Bush's top economic advisers called outsourcing -- when companies fire Americans and send their jobs overseas -- "a good thing."

With that attitude, it's easy to see how Bush can be proud of his record of losing 2.9 million jobs since he took office -- the first president to lose jobs during his term since Herbert Hoover. If sending American jobs overseas is "a good thing," then Bush should be proud of his record of hemorrhaging jobs.

Of course, the millions of Americans who are out of work would disagree.

This qoute is from the Democratic party. I thought I'ld share it for your conservative consumption.

"Outsourcing is just a new way of doing international trade. We're very used to goods being produced abroad and being shipped here on ships or planes. What we're not used to is services being produced abroad and being sent here over the Internet or telephone wires. The economics is basically the same. More things are tradable than were tradable in the past and that's a good thing."

This guy is a fool. Exporting goods brings money from other countries into our economy. Exporting jobs gives us the double whammy of sending more US dollars out of our economy and hurting employment rates at home.

Edit: Actually I misread this guy's quote, so he's not the only fool. Still a fool though.

There is no conceivable government plan that can overcome the 70% labor savings that companies realize by sending jobs overseas. Anyone who says any differently is nothing more than a politician (worst insult ever) and anyone who believes them is a fool.

It is no doubt a trade off. Excessive taxes and regulation are only part of the problem along with low wages.

As far as I know china has few environmental regs(notice that nice brown cload they have), corperate taxes for non chinese companies is 20%(compare with 35%+ here), and any development can pretty much down by saying this is the habitat of the spotted brown racoon rat and it must be saved.

WEll you better become a fool then. Either that or plan to move to another country. Quite frankly Bush is costing this country big time. He's lost jobs. Period. And his plan is about as dumb as ever. I like Kerry's stance. A lot of companies just want to make money here. Ah no thanks. Bush has put Medicare and Social Security on the path to bankruptcy. And before you start flapping your gums, the fastest growing age group is the senior citizens. People are starting to live longer and because of financial restraints, imho, smaller families are the result. WE facing huge deficits that our children's, children, children won't be able to pay off. This president's time in office has been a disaster. We went from in the being in the black to being in the red. Now while the economy slow down for various reasons probably would have happened, the president's policys have just made it worse, much worse. He may be moral to a certain standpoint, but when it comes to economic policy he is an imbesol.

So what should be done to stop jobs from moving outside of the country?

This is just not factory jobs we're talking about. If I recall IBM moved like 4000 jobs out of the country. Man will some of you conservatives get a damn clue from somewhere. The present White House administration stinks. They have really sucked. I just can't believe how folks will trade reality in for damn politics. I dont' give a flip it this guy and his traveling circus was democrat, republican, independant, or whatever, the job done in the last 4 years has just been plain pee pee poor.

So how are you going to stop india from producing 50,000 Computer science grads a year. Even if you keep US companies from hiring them, how are you going to stop these grads from competing in the world market, which would cause US companies to lose jobs because of labor cost. The world is having growing pains and there is little that can be done to stop it.

That's a nice little diatribe classy but as usual it has little substance and it doesn't even come close to saying what should be done about job loss, if anything can be done. Saying the President has "lost jobs" is indicative of your complete and total lack of understanding of the subject and your intellect in general. Please show me a viable plan that will overcome the 70% labor savings companies realize when they outsource overseas.

We need better policys in place where companies who do business here, contribute to this economy as well. Thats not happening. We are operating like a free supermarket, its ok to eat here and not pay anything. That can't happen anymore. And unfortunately the president's lack of economic outlook for here in this country is sadly lacking. And you know what p!sses me off. All the people who have lost jobs and yet his buddies have locked their teeth into billion dollar contracts from the result of the Iraq war. Kinda like a slap in the american's people face. Our boys have died for what now looks like a very skeptical war at best and the old boys network secure billion dollar deals where they will get their cut and use cheap labor from there and clean up. And folks here just sit and wait. He needs to literally be picked up, walked out to the gate of 1600 Pennsylvania Ave and thrown out on the street. All of them, him Chaney, Powell, the whole damn crew needs to be thrown out, preferably when its raining and cold.

Further devalue the U.S. dollar?

Oh wait, my bad. If we institute such measures then the libs would really be raising hell because they must consequently pay more for their Evian bottled water, Château Margaux wines, Gouda cheeses and various printed propaganda originating from "the Continent".

I can't spell...but there's many points in that paragraph that I agree on 100%. Can you say Haliburton?

You don't have any sense common or otherwise. Explain how the President has "lost jobs". Explain how making it more expensive for companies to do business here is going to bring jobs back. Oh and your ignorant little comment about how he made the economic slow down "worse" is laughable. But don't take my word for it, read what Greenspan says about the tax cuts and the other economic stimulus this admin. has put in place has effected this economy and the recession. Then you and Engineer can explain what Haliburton and other companies getting government contracts (which employ thousands of people by the way) has to do with outsourcing jobs overseas? Is it your contention that the money paid to them would have been used to pay someone else who's job got outsourced to India?

Keep ignoring my posts.

It will happen, sadly most likely by force.

America is becoming a land of the opressed by the Corporate Elite.

Very soon though there will be enough of the trampled to rise up and overthrow the Corporate Elite and those that support them including You, CAD, Rush, Hannity and the President.

My Depression and Revolution threads may have temporarilly dropped but the Movement has certainly not.

No, I was just agreeing on the whole "Good Ole Boy's Network statement" of classy's post...nothing to do with overseas jobs. Millions of dollars literally "stolen" by Haliburten and other "Good Ole Boys" don't help anything. All I can say is get an education in "Automation" or something similar as soon as you can...otherwise, it's Burger King Bound for us all. Democrat or Republican, the jobs are leaving. Tax cuts aren't going to save them either (too much Corporate Greed)....cut off the hand that feeds you though.....
