Susan A. Cohen, director of government affairs for the Alan Guttmacher Institute, said while the U.N. agency "will survive" without U.S. funds, "It's the women in 142 developing countries including Afghanistan, which the White House purports to care about so much, who are going to suffer as a result of $34 million less going to prevent maternal death, infant death and abortions."

The emphasis on "prevent maternal death, infant death and abortions". Does Bush want to elimanate the funds that PREVENT abortions, and PREVENT maternal death, PREVENT infant death?

U.N. officials deny that the program supports forced abortions or sterilization. They estimated the loss of U.S. funding could undermine their capacity to prevent 800,000 abortions and the deaths of 4,700 women and 77,000 children under the age of five.

I suppose it is more important to bend over for these right wing extremist ass hole abortion foes (not one of them is adopting a child from South Africa or China or Manibia probably, just mindless slugs following the mouthpiece of the slime that want to take a way a womans right to control her own body)

Bush is a tool if he denies the funding and cowtows to these freaking lobbiests. He will be slaughtered in the elections for doing so, and so will every republican candidiate that supports this stupid, assinine decesion.

Let them do it . Good excuse to clean house.:|

If you want to support abortion around the globe then that's your right but I don't want taxpayer money used for something that is not a medical neccesity.

Ya know, we got economic problems here at home. If we need the money here, we should get it. It's our money after all.

Well what I don't understand is how God could create us in such a way that there could literally (used correctly, by the way) be trillions of different people born depending on who does who and then on how the genes combine, but probably 99.99+% of them will never see the light of day. I mean if the trillions of humans that could happen will never happen because of the design of the universe, isn't that a lot more serious than worring about a few bucks for family planning. I mean come on folks. How come I don't see the the political conservatives going after God to lock Him up.

You do realize that the Government is spending the money in the Social Security Trust Fund so there bigger crooks then the CEO's of the corporations.

BTW: I think these CEO's should get the Death Penalty when they destroy entire company with accounting "irregularities".

lines like "oh we don't want to create a climate of fear in the board room'

B.S. what these execs did ruined many, many people's lives. :disgust:

How is ending a global social program some kind of huge tragedy? The United States is not obligated to run the program in the first place.

And I'd love to direct the investment of my own social security contributions. Congress likes to invest in global social programs with them instead, counting on future taxes to actually cover their spending and fund my return on my investment.

Infos,

Congress allowed these accounting practices and the practice of giant stock option benefits for executives in the first place. This problem was long in the making. The accountants lobbied congress and fought the SEC on these issues almost ten years ago. Congress bowed to the accounting lobbyists.

How about we THE USA, fvcking take care of OUR OWN PROBLEMS FIRST. The President is supposed to do stuff for the US, not for other countries. Damn socialists. Its not good enough we are going to waste half a billion dollars on AIDS in Africa, when the people are just going to die anyways. The US cant solve everyones problems, when it cant even solve its own.

Hey morons, read the whole thread and see the topic has changed several times
If I were to start a new thread for every idiotic thing Bush does
it would take up several pages

By the way you isolationist idiots it's a hell of a lot cheaper to prevent births
than feed someone for a lifetime :disgust:

If we can kill them before they are born we won't need to kill them at a later date.

Africa's sad state of affairs is brought on by it's own political mess and no amount of money will matter.

No, we aren't adopting Africans because American Blacks and their Leaders won't let us.

How is it cheaper?

How many abortions per woman will we pay for over HER lifetime? 2? 5? 10? 15? 20?

How is any of this the United States business or responsibility? It's their children? their choice? their responsibility? Keep your friggin nose out of their business.

Maybe we should elect you to figure out which lives are worth living and which lives are worth not living. Maybe we should just advocate suicide as a cost saving measure. Many things are cheaper than feeding people, but it doesn't make those things better.

With this level of intelligence supporting the abortion crowd, no wonder the funding was cancelled.
