I like how it's done. You use some veterans to smear your opponent, sacrifice them, and show up as the forgiving and respectful candidate.

Masterfully done I must say. :)

"I think him going to Vietnam was more heroic than my flying fighter jets," said Bush, who served in the Texas Air National Guard (search). "He was in harm's way and I wasn't. On the other hand, I served my country. Had my unit been called up, I would have gone."

Why hasn't this been posted? :p

A search for "heroic" in the title and body = zero results.

I think "noble" is a little stronger than what I would have called it, but I do appreciate the statement. Empirically I think it would be hard to argue that it's the case, but I applaud President Bush for saying it.

I think it's safe to say that Bush is the dumbest president we've had in recent history. His IQ test scores would definitely be the lowest, his speaking skills are the poorest, and lets face it his whole life has been a series of failures (including his presidency).

well check out his life story if you don't believe me. Pretty much all of his business ventures failed, he scored poorly in college, and well his presidency has been a series of failures.

..and he's the leader of the free world, and you are here whining about it on in an Internet Forum. Post your Yale and Harvard transcripts, sir.

please, he used his daddy's connections to get him into yale and harvard. He got C's anyways, what's your point? He was never a good student, face it, he's just AVERAGE. Besides, I think everyone knows who really calls the shots in Washington, certainly not Bush.

In this game of thrones I don't believe in coincidence. I think that someone might thought the "Veteran" cherade would be a benefit for the Bush campaign. And as soon as it turned out it might smear the president, it would be better to sacrifice the whole bunch and the president comes out even stronger.

I don't think bad of it, as I think it's masterfully done, but I don't belive in nobleness in this game.

Unfortunately these Swiftboat liars give the impression that all Vietnam Vets who oppose Kerry are lowlife which is not true.
