Bush is killing us for - what?

I'mm back!
What is Bush killing us for? To take over a country that had no way to theaten us?
We already had Afganistan, at low cost. Why did we not focus on taking over that country?
I will tell you why - oil. Caddilac Escaledes. Lincoln SUV's. Hummers. Bush wants the oil.
No other reasonable reason.
When the girl first suggested this to me, I thought she was mad. Now I think she is right!
Let's get out of their! Dean in 2004!

I don't remember when Dean said he is going to pull out of Iraq. From what I recall, he said we need to stay there till we finish the job. So maybe Kucinic is your guy.
I don't think we should have gone in, but to get out now would be even bigger mistake than getting in.

I disagree, Oil was not the only reason. I speculate that it played a major role but that's just my opinion.

Also, it would be a bigger mistake to pull out now.

We need to get other nations to pitch in and help out. Send in more troops to finish the job quickly and then leave.

It is all about POWER. Controlling the flow of oil is part of that.

This isn't the kind of job you can do quickly. Rebuilding a nation takes years not weeks, and if its not going to be done properly then we might as well have not invaded in the first place.

And other nations will only pitch in if they think the US/UK are in it for the long haul. If they think that the US is going to shift the burden to them and then high-tail it, they'll stay well clear.

The Pentagon has meticulously reported the American fatality toll in Iraq, now up to 286. That number includes 183 deaths from hostile fire since the start of the war. It also includes 148 dead since May 1 when President Bush declared the end of major combat operations. A Pentagon spokesman said that 1,105 U.S. service personnel have been wounded since the war began.

Deal with that, tallest one!

I've done my research, tallest1, have you?

The war on Iraq is the result of an unholy marriage between Texan hypercapitalists (Cheney, Halliburton, Bechtel etc) , neocon proisraelites (Wolfowitz, Perle et al), parts of the high tech military industry (Rumsfeld) and deeprooted US global strategy policies (see US history visavi the Middle East). Furthermore this war is led by a Christian (probably fundamentalist) who believes himself to be personally appointed by God to lead the US to great things. Nice mix, eh? All the time they are being cheered on by the Bush apologists. You don't happen to be one of those apologists, now do you tallest!?

I'll give you two reasons: 9/11 (how do you live with yourself knowing all those innocent people in NY died?) and having a democratic state in a part of the world that has known little more than war for its entire existance is a step in the right direction. Give people a taste of freedom and maybe other nations in the region will adopt similar governments.

well dirtboy the origional post is a little far fetched, yet your responce is reactionary spoonfed and preprogramned.

A taste of freedom, As an american I often wonder what that would be like.

freedom as defined as working 8 hours a day for a corporation that see's you only as a number so you can pay off your 30-year endetured servitute, i mean mortgage to a bank that charges you fees for farting wrong while examining all the possible Suv's you could possible purchase and put a little american flag sticker on the back in between your "Quality time" at home watching people on Tv eat Goat scrotum or to see which woman can be a bigger whore to get chosen by a pretty boy trust fund child and being able to go download scat porn intermixed with Mp3's right before you go asleep to start the same monotonous drivil over again.

Considering you've probably never lived outside the US, you wouldn't know what it is like not to be free.

You have the freedom not to buy a house. Nobody in this country forces you to own property or have a 30 year mortgage. Nobody forces you to work for a corporation or do anything you choose not to. In America, you have the opportunity to make your life what you choose. If you are miserable and unhappy, it is your own doings. If you don't like it here, you're welcome to leave. If there is someplace so much better, why are you still here? If you leave, I promise you that nobody will miss you.

If this country wasn't so great, all the people who immigrated here and continue to wouldn't, because they would be going somewhere else.

Couldn't me any more monotonous than, say, living on a communal farm, or whatever "utopia" you've imagined. No matter the utopia, we all need to work and we all need to be entertained--what difference does it matter whether we work for the evil corporation or Manny's corner car wash?

I love how you accuse me of Hating this country and that I should leave. Another Preprogramed Sheepish remark. YOu missed the total point of my post. Think foryourself and dont get to "comfortable" with so-called Freedom, or the powers that be will take it away and you will wonder why. The problem with the country I love(Yes that is the USA and i have been to numerous foreign countries and witnesses the value of freedom) is the way people take freedoms for granted because they think freedom IS the ability to buy or not buy a house rather than having the will of others forced on you. Hey next time your forced to pay taxes to help subsadize some corporation to better market its products to those commies in china, ask yourself how free you are. Better Yet, Dont pay those taxes and see how free you are.

ohh and just because our country is so great doesnt mean we dont have our problems and arent open to questioning.

not a commie, sorry.

:Q

Just stating that I predict this country will be taken over and the citizens will lose their rights all in the name of the greater good, which is the Corporation.

Corporations are slowly but surely taking over our soceity with their marketing(propaganda) departments, lobbiest in government, translucent coruption.

Corporations are more important than the average Joe in this country now because the Corporation doesnt need the average Joe anymore to function. They can now go get the average Apu in another country.
