Exactly. So many defend him based on simply on his word, when in fact his actions paint a different picture.

We shall know them by their fruits and by the bodies of children in Iraq. The great Christian committed an illegal act of aggressive war on a defenseless and vastly underarmed people because he is a moral and physical coward. He killed and bore false witness and holds false gods before him. He went to war for his real religion, the PNAC Utopian dream and spawn of the Devil. We know what those who think he's a good Christian are.

I just got back from seeing Bush speak a couple hours ago. His speech was not religious at all. Even if he mentioned god a couple times, it was certainly not the focus. I thought his statement on freedom was a very good one. I can't quote it exactly, but he said something like "freedom is not a gift from America, it is a gift from God to every one of us." To me, the point seemed to be that freedom was not just something we decided the Iraqis and Afghanis should have, but rather it was a natural right that we helped bring back.

The fact that he is a religious person does not make him a zealot. His religion has guided and shaped his own moral beliefs, but has certainly not been an emphasis of his campaign, nor was it even really brought up in his speech tonight.
