I read that Congressmen vote to give themselves raises all the time. Unfortunately, it wasn't in the Onion or any other satirical publication. 🙁

They don't take effect until the start of their next term, so you're free to vote against them because of it.

I think what they make is pretty reasonable considering their job.

In theory yes, but incumbent congressmen have what, like a 98% chance of getting re-elected?
