Linkafied. Draw your own conclusion. I knew it was smoke and mirrors the first time Bush said it.:p

?I think ?the Texas miracle? is a myth,? said Stephen Klein, a senior RAND researcher who helped lead the study, ?What do Test Scores in Texas Tell Us??
?There is nothing remarkable in Texas education,? Klein told Reuters in a telephone interview. ?With few exceptions, notably fourth-grade math, gains in Texas in recent years were about the same as in the United States.?

Let's examine a couple quotes from that article and see what's what:

<< In fact, while Texas found the gaps in achievement shrinking between white and non-white students, the national tests showed them actually increasing slightly in some areas. >>

<< ....a number of other studies, including one released by the RAND Corp. in July, showed Texas among those leading the nation in reducing the achievement gap between white and non-white students. >>

Why, I wonder, does this latest Rand Corp. "study", which just happens to be released 2 weeks prior to an election that GWB appears to be headed to victory, not jive with the earlier Rand Corp. study with no explanation?

I'm sure you can "guess" what conclusion I've drawn.....

One of the things they do not factor in those scores is that the minority dropout rate in Texas' high schools is the highest in the nation...and the dropout scores do not count in bushlite's estimates. There has also been reports of widespread cheating to make sure individual schools look good on the tests.

bushlite is an a$$hole, and you republiKlan idiots are going to elect him anyway. I am going to buy my "Don't Blame Me, I voted for Gore" sticker tomorrow.

Are you implying that it's GWB's fault that the parents of these dropouts don't care about their kid's future? Maybe there just happens to be a higher percentage of uncaring parents in Texas--dunno how a politician can force someone to be concerned about their children.

<< bushlite is an a$$hole >>

And Gore is too, as are Nader and Buchanan. It's an election of assholes, so trying to vote based on that is difficult if not impossible. I suppose we'll have to vote based on degrees of asshole-ness :p
