I believe individual freedom to participate in elections should be expanded, not diminished; and when individual freedoms are restricted, questions arise under the First Amendment.

I also have reservations about the constitutionality of the broad ban on issue advertising, which restrains the speech of a wide variety of groups on issues of public import in the months closest to an election. I expect that the courts will resolve these legitimate legal questions as appropriate under the law.

That's from the signing of McCain-Feingold. So basically, he flip-flopped because liberal groups were out spending conservative ones. He doesn't mind that he can use Air Force One and out fund raise and out spend Kerry early on, using the money for $100+ million in negative ads.

Maybe he should denounce the message of the ads instead of hiding behind the method of funding.

Oh, come on, Todd.

You're giving Bush way too much credit in thinking here. You know Rove is the one pulling the strings now. Cheney needed a rest.

All joking aside Sr. and Jr. are like night and day, I truly see ideoligical differences between the two. One example would be GW2. I'll try to dig up what Sr. told a reporter in Time magazine about it; not exactly flattering to Jr's plan.

fair points

I heard on CNN that the 527's on the Kerry side have spent far more than the ones on Bush's side

Know your history, Bush sr kept the chickenhawks ideas into the back and didn't listen, bush jr is not in control, the same chickenhawks are free to control the US now.

THAT is what is wrong, Bush jr couldn't manage a too toot train without crashing it into oblivion, much less the US.

I wish :(

sometimes, I really miss Senior. I read Maureen Dowd's book, though, and she has me pretty well convinced that Junior has serious father issues.
