Bush didn't show up in Alabama, say two men who served.

MEMPHIS - Two members of the Air National Guard unit that President George W. Bush allegedly served with as a young Guard flyer in 1972 had been told to expect him and were on the lookout for him. He never showed, however; of that both Bob Mintz and Paul Bishop are certain.

Recalls Memphian Mintz, now 63: "I remember that I heard someone was coming to drill with us from Texas. And it was implied that it was somebody with political influence. I was a young bachelor then. I was looking for somebody to prowl around with." But, says Mintz, that "somebody" -- better known to the world now as the president of the United States -- never showed up at Dannelly in 1972. Nor in 1973, nor at any time that Mintz, a FedEx pilot now and an Eastern Airlines pilot then, when he was a reserve first lieutenant at Dannelly, can remember.

I live in Memphis and I've never even heard of the Memphis Flyer. In any case this guy better be careful. He works for FedEx and Fred Smith and GW are tight.

GW got his points, got paid, got his teeth cleaned and got an honorable discharge. But you Demotards keep harping on it and ignore the real issues and you'll spend another four years on the outside looking in. Morons.

In the Air Force, every pilot on a base knows every other pilot in the squadren. If this is true, it wouldn't surprise me. The last laugh I had was an excuse published that Bush was flying a faised out F104, therefor he didn't have to show up for duty. No matter what, he went the privilaged preppy route to avoid combat, and I loath the bastard for doing so. He will never be half the man a real soldier is. Its too bad they have him as commander in chief. He doesn't know crap about military affairs. The last 3 years history shows that.

The vast majority of people who are actually serving do not share your sentiments.

I don't care that Bush chickened out of his National Guard Service to go binge on Cocaine and alcohol, that is in the past. What matters is how good of a job he is doing running the country.

Put this stuff to rest seriously....

Anyone who hasn't been living under a rock for the past 4 years knows enough about Bush's character to make a judgement...

I really wish both parties would focus less on these trivial issues and focus more on issues that actually affect the country. But wouldn't you think Bush's military service is more important than say...the deficit?

Sad thing about politics today...too much dodging the question not enough clear cut plans

One more thing: I seriously don't think a person should vote for someone based on what they did or didn't do in their lives. You can't look at someone's past and say they are a bad person TODAY. If people want to start discrediting a person (Bush) go find something he did during his term and then you can provoke arguments about their character then...

Ironically enough a guy was on Hannity and Colmes tonight who says different. It's just he said-he said BS. What difference does it make? Most Republicans are going to vote for Bush and most Democrats are going to vote for Kerry - even it is found out that Kerry diddled an intern.

It could be proven that Bush was AWOL, did Coke in the Oval Office, and boozed it up with his secretary while playing 'Ride 'Em Cowboy' and heartsu...I mean Coulter wouldn't give two shIts.

Who gives a sh! whether he was there or not? Is Kerry even criticizing him for it or is it just that Dipsh!t Terry MaCaulife and the Whitehouse Press Corps?

To me this is such a non issue unless the Republicans question Kerry's Service and his actions afterwards. Who knows, if Bush would have served in Nam in country he might have done the same thing as Kerry as he would have seen first hand how wrong our government was for waging war there. In fact during last weeks Meet The Press he did say that the Government was wrong in Vietnam.
