Bush Desecrates US Flag

If Bush wants to sign a flag for a person who likes him... it's fine with me... as long as it is not displayed in that fashion... and its just a bity flag so I've no concern there...

I think what Bush and co. and what the last few presidents have done to the Constitution & Bill of Rights far outweighs one small act of signing some miniature flags, lets focus on the metaphorical defecation/desecration on those sacred objects. People vest too much emotion into symbols anyways, but thats just MHO.

If someone burning an American flag in protest can be considered going against the Flag Code, then so can Bush writing on one...right? Heh...I figured this would get a rise out of some people, but I guess it backfired. I know that flag burning can be referred to as desecration...I figured, technically, according to the letter of the Code, this was no different. Here's a story of a soldier during the Civil War who was shot multiple times, but did not let the flag touch the ground.

I wondered if in his little brain Bush believes he is synonymous with the flag, that he is so ideally American he has the right by deed to do this, as if his ego has him signing a flag as an author would sign a book of his own creation.

Nevertheless, I do think that as DK has posted, the actions of this administration are what is important, and not so much his signature on the flag.
