Symbolism never did much for me so I forgive him. Surprised he did it though.

Only he is allowed to: USC TITLE 4 CHAPTER 1 Sec. 10.

Any rule or custom pertaining to the display of the flag of the United States of America, set forth herein, may be altered, modified, or repealed, or additional rules with respect thereto may be prescribed, by the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces of the United States, whenever he deems it to be appropriate or desirable; and any such alteration or additional rule shall be set forth in a proclamation

From how I am reading it, it looks like he has to issue a proclamation to change the rules before he can act on those changes; technically, he still violated the Code, because it hadn't been changed yet.

Little wonder. The draft dodger never had any respect for our flag. Only uses it as a symbol to advance his personal agenda.

I want one of those signed flags

He is the Commander in Chief of our military. He is the elected leader(unless you are a bizarro still hung up on 2000). He loves America. why shouldn't he be able to sign it. You people who are criticizing it, you are the same people that would advocate the personal freedom to burn and defecate on the flag, so please STFU hypocrites.

The signature of the Commander in Chief is ok on the flag. Hell, I would not even think anything of it had Clinton did it while he was President.

Doesn't that mean he has to issue a proclamation first before signing it?

Not that I disagree with you, I don't have a problem with it, it was tastefully done, wasn't like he wiped his @$$ with it or anything, point of information though, there is a very clear delineation between burning and defecating on a flag. Burning is expressive and symbolic, defecating is something a slack jawed yokel who thinks the world owes him would do.

"burn and defecate on the flag"

OH MAN. That is the funniest thing I've read on these forums in days!

Defacate the flag! :D:D:D:D:D

That must REALLY hurt on the way out! :D

*EDIT*

Did you mean to say "desecrate"?

In my experience, those small plastic flags were never really protected as much as a real one. Those are the kind that are given out at events and you might see them on the ground afterwards, or in the garbage can. If it was a full size American flag I'd have a problem, but simply signing a mini one doesn't bother me at all.

Tempest+Teacup=Bush signing little flags for people.

No doubt that Bush has the IQ of a warm bowl of cow dung, but come on people... he's the president and he was signing little flags. Get over it! If you want to slam the guy for something, make it something meaningful!

Anyone who thinks this is worth griping about might want to remove their head from their backside. :D

Only a company with a name like Beaver Aerospace
would invest in the equipment to make Ballscrews.

Yea, nothing to see here folks.

We're all getting tired of discussing the lies, ommissions, and widespread idiocy of the Bush Regime, but this is not an issue IMO.

There was a flag signed by many New Yorkers and sent to our troops in Afgahnistan. Was this a problem?

I personally don't think you should write on, deface, or allow a flag to touch the ground. That's just the way I was raised. But that is just me. This whole Bush flag thing is a non-issue.

Story here, picture here.

OMFG you Bush haters are morons. Seriously.

So, the flag which flew at the Pentagon and subsequently went to Kandahar with the Marines and was signed by hundreds upon hundreds of people with messages of support and condolences was "desecrated"?

The spirit and the word of the law are often different. Perhaps you Bush haters would do well to learn the nuances.
