Let him do it. He will hang the republican party out to dry with this kind of crap. Sounds like he wants to be King. And he does this in the face of a member of his own party, enviting an investigation into abuse of power.

Its one thing to stand tough in the face of a war against terrorists, yet quite another to shun responsible governship in domestic matters and congressional jurisprudence.

Bush invokes executive privilege doctrine

What do you expect from someone who was appointed, not elected?

Good old Governor Bush at it again. Maybe if he shapes up his act, we might finally elect him president in 2004. On the other, hand, I think Guiliani could win that election pretty easily now....

It would reveal sources of information and endanger lives....where were you when Clinton tried the same thing for his own personal gain?

Not elected? You seem to forget that there have been MANY recounts. Oh yeah, I forgot, it would only be widespread news if he had NOT won.

Guys Bush has been good. Look at his approval rating, and he hasen't been using that as leverage for anything.

Infos: Bush won the election fair and square. Quit your whining. So wanted Gore? Hah. Just what we need, a democrat during a time of nation crisis.

The main-stream media is liberal. Of course they won't talk about how Bush actually won fairly.

i'm sure a republican president's foriegn policy had nothing to do with getting us into the crisis.:|
no, he hasn't abused his (dropping) approval rate at all. except to invoke the executive privilage doctrine. oops, oh well.
approval ratings have nothing to do with how a president is doing. they merely show how he is being portrayed by Fox, ABC, and CNN.

given the current state of the american people as 'oh, if we don't stand behind the governement and the president 100% we would be un-patriotic and since everybody else is being patriotic I dont want to be different'
bush's high aproval rating isn';t saying much...

Right here where I've always been.

What personal gain? And tell me this, what is Bush trying to hide? This mafia case dates back 40 years. Something with members of his cabinet, or perhaps Texas connection to the assisination of JFK?

Or how about irregularities in the ongoing Clinton investigation? Is he hiding something there?

He sure doesn't want any information given to the public that would taint his re election bid, butt by God this is congressional oversight that protects America against totalitarianism and an exective branch that sets themselves up being above the law and not responsible to congress. This is the second time in less than a week this crap has come up,the first with Enron.

If you support this action and can find justification for it, then lets hear it. But protecting informants is not good enough. This is the Judicial branch thumbing its nose at an oversight commitee in congress ,empowered to make sure things are on the up and up.

<< Bush has been good. Look at his approval rating >>

An approval rating is hardly the best measure of a president.

<< Bush wrote that the ?disclosure to Congress of confidential advice to the attorney general regarding the appointment of a special counsel and confidential recommendations to Department of Justice officials regarding whether to bring criminal charges would inhibit the candor necessary to the effectiveness of the deliberative process by which the department makes prosecutorial decisions." >>

Sure, he did. ;)

Hopefully, there's a good reason why they'd want to keep the documents confidential. Always a chance that decisions could be misinterpreted.

Hmm who's the moron? The one that launches a personal attack or the one that tells the truth? You're the one that can't open your eyes.

Executive privilege is a recognized power of the office of the President. Nothing I've seen so far remotely smacks of any wrong doing.
Right after the Sept. 11 attacks, several information leaks from members of congress caused an uproar, and Bush rightfully limited the information flow of the Afghanistan campaign to the Party leaders. Seems to me he is just trying to keep loose lips from sinking ships.

Funny, I remember some people used to squawk about Clinton's approval rating as if it was the end all metric of a presidency, hmn as soon as Bush surpasses Clinton's approval rating legacy, they're now worthless.
