I hope i am not the only one who says YES.
Obama hasn't hired many new bureaucrats and the GOP controlled States are the ones with the most cops. Also, Bush re-hired bureaucrats that were laid-off under the Clinton admin. And Obama's admin hasn't been more pro-tax (examples include but are not limited the Steel Tariffs and Bush's willingness to raise the payroll tax against more wages while was offering to reduce payroll taxes further than the GOP wanted).
I don't really agree with Mr. Obama's views on foreign policy and on welfare, but they really are creatively designed and half of what they could've been under McCain or Romney. Feeling threatened by Putin as this point is straight retarded (putin is like me in that he is too easily fooled and doesn't have a clear enough mind to wipe out any but his own); and feeling threatened by ISIS is also outright retarded if you're on U.S. Soil anyway.
Mr. Obama also dropped the gun control ideas after Sandy Hook (which was clearly a hoax and he minimized risk like having no blood photos or anything with it unlike the massacre at Columbine under Bill Clinton's Admin); he saw dropping it would protect minority rights concurrently with majority rule.
He dropped the federal minimum wage proposal too -- he doesn't have much faith in central planning and consolidation of power like the Party of Hamilton usually has. If the federal min wage is increased, then it will be because the GOP compromises with him. Snowden is a good American, but Obama knew that Putin couldn't kill him and that Snowden will be safe and happy again on Earth. Even with bin laden, Obama seemed to me to know that pretending to hate him wouldn't increase harm absolutely; and he stopped himself from yelling for too long back in '08 because he didn't want to get people pumped up and because he knew it wasn't himself to get violent. Bush was like me (i.e., he and I lack precision) and couldn't bring himself to say that Bin Laden could've died naturally (and it is pretty obvious that Bin Laden died in 2001 and that he was angry from the loss of his national sovereignty; his thoughts were pressed out by aggression from the U.S. government but he was not really a mastermind).
Ron Paul is a good man, but he is very idealistic and out of touch with reality as were 2 of the other 3 last Republicans (exception in 2012 was Newt Gingrich). Representative of TX Ron Paul M.D. would've had too difficult of a time trying to balance liberty and order and I don't want to ever see that happen.
So really, the loss in opportunity was due to all the power from the Red tape established by the Bush Admin and the spending by his administration as well as the Neo-Republican Party's (especially its governors at the State level) desire for national security and self-empowerment. Perhaps I will get executed by the military acting on a future President's or Obama's orders from the top down, but I don't want to ever go on a rampage. Maybe I will get deported. But whatever happens, I will remain an Independent for the rest of my life. The Neo-Republican establishment in Virginia let sarvis run but banned Independents because they knew independents could not always adhere to the old order.
