Bush causing bad image for Republicans?

Anyone else think that Bush and his administration is totally fscking up in terms of their image and the republican image in general? He keeps blaming the Clinton administration for the recent economic recession, which is not only completely childish but mostly incorrect considering we had the lowest unemployment rate ever and a balanced budget. Now, I know the media is having a field day with all these scandals and I personally believe that both Bush and Cheney are very upstanding people and I would not associate them as criminals, ever but does anyone else think that Republicans stand a chance in the next elections?

If you'll recall, Cheney predicted the recession before they were ever elected.

well we all knew that there was gonna be a recession, but a recession to the degree that it is at now was not predicted. Many believe Bush's tax cuts and other policies are responsible for this.

Someone taking out 2 buildings and a large chunk of the Pentagon was not predicted a year ago either. Those events had much to do with the depth of the recession.

Most republicans (and many democrats) should be concerned that the affililation with big business will tarnish their image. With the recent accounting scandals, insider trading scandals, and economic downturn, it will be difficult to fill out a campaign platform with the traditional 'corporate america' zietgiest. I wonder if the green party will siphen off more republican votes next time around....

George isn't fully responsible for the recession just as Bill wasn't fully responsible for the expansion. The business cycle often doesn't care who is President. I laugh at the people who blame the recession on the tax cuts. Interest rates are rock bottom - I refinanced my mortgage at 5.75% - and they are talking about the Fed continuing to lower rates. The refrain from the Left was that Bill kept rates low and that's why the economy expanded. Rates are even lower now, people. The equity market corrected, Enrons and Worldcoms blew up and we've got to wait until the situation stabilizes and returns to a growth track.

Most economist agree this is a very mild recession...at recession that almost was not one.

Unemployment has remained relatively low, housing sales remained strong and consumer confidence has carried us thru it.

I would associate them as criminals. And since the Republicans lie better than the Dems, I would bet that far more of them will get re-elected than even the most morbid Dem pontificators would imagine.

Well there have been a couple of others arrested as well and as far as i know, enron is still under investigation...

Actually, what scares me isn't Bush, but Ashcroft.

His managing of the Dept. of Justice is terrifyingly similar to what happened in Nazi Germany before WWII.

The U.S. government isn't supposed to be able to imprison people indefinitely without charging them with a crime, and not even telling who's locked up. What happens when YOU (or I) become the next terrorist "suspect?"

This scares the hell out of me.
