this whole thing seems like, dare I say, a distraction.

Obama leached onto this statement which wasn't even about him to launch himself as the democratic nominee.

You have Carter going to meet with the leaders of Hezbollah.
You have Obama saying he will meet with the President of Iran.
Then you have Obama hanging out with unrepentant American terrorist Bill Ayers.

It all adds up to make Obama look weak when it comes to fighting terrorism. We are still close enough to 9-11 and there is still enough of a threat of terrorism in the world to make that a major problem when it comes election time.

I am sure how to deal with terrorist will be a major issue in the fall debates.
No it makes him look like he has big brass balls as he isn't afraid of what hacks like you, Limbaugh and Hannity will say when he does what he believes to be right. Makes sense to me, a lot more sense than lobbing blusterous threats and other ineffective bullshit that Bush and McCain are known for.

Heh. More swill. America already knows she was suckered by all the rightwing raving and fearmongering wrt 9/11. The shock value wore off a few years ago. Feel free to play it up, invoke the terrarist boogeyman over and over- the public got sick of it long ago- we'll piss on the grave of the repub party if y'all cant come up with something better than that..

Right now, she's starting to realize that this stonewall of denial practiced by the Bushistas offers no solutions whatsoever, other than perpetual war and increasing scorn for the US worldwide...

Dialogue =! appeasement, no matter how well bluster and fearmongering sells to those few who still occasionally fondle their duct tape and plastic sheeting...

Jhhnn... if you are right then why did Obama and all the Democrats freak out over this statement?

Why didn't they stand up and say that the time for cowboy diplomacy is over and that we have to find a new approach etc etc?

Because it's political campaign season, and he has the previous example of John Kerry, who hesitated to respond to Bush's swiftboat lies, and it hurt his credibility.

YTour Traitor In Chief tried to associate Obama with Neville Chamberlain's attempt to appease of Hitler by giving him half of Czechoslovakia, which he did with no input, let alone approval, by the Czechs he sold out.

Why didn't they stand up and say that the time for cowboy diplomacy is over and that we have to find a new approach etc etc?

Guess you'd have had to watch any of Obama's speeches or campaign ads to see that he does exactly that.

Keep it up, PJ. Don't let the truth stand in your way.

Bush should not be attacking an American presidential candidate from overseas.

I took it as a warning for everybody, not just Obama. Remember Pelosi's little jaunt to Syria to meet with Assad? There are lots of other people out there who think that if we just sit down and talk with tyrants and fanatics then everything will be ok. Forgetting that talking with tyrants and fanatics rarely works because they never hold up their end of the bargain.

Your simplistic view of diplomacy is worrying. No one ever said you talk and that would be enough to solve problems. Fuck it, what's the use in trying to explain this to you...

Oh, so you talk and threaten sanctions. OH NOES!!! fanatics only understand one thing, their way or the highway.
At least Dubya had the balls to blow some shit up and show those towel headed fuckers that America won't stand by and let you attack us. The Dems would have just thrown money into buying off the terrorists.

America...FUCK YEAH!!! Comin' again to save the motherfuckin day, yeah!!! Terrorists your game is through, now you have to answer to.. America!!! FUCK YEAH!!! Lick my nuts and suck on my balls...

Exactly right, and Obama is the nominee and the de facto leader of the Democratic party (which is known by everyone not living in HillaryWorld.) It was an obvious (and stated) attack on him, and at the least an attack on the Dems which he represents so would be obligated to respond. Obama also deftly managed to tie McCain onto Bush, and goad McCain into defending Bush.

This is all that voters will think in Nov.:camera:

EDIT: Besides, if Ayers was this dangerous terrorist running loose around the country, why isnt he in jail or Gitmo, and instead free to serve on charity organization's boards? Sounds like someone has been failing to protect the homeland.

Now that the subject does come up, GWB&co's cowboy diplomacy has not worked. Not only has it not worked, it has been horribly non productive. And its alienated allies and enemies alike.
