imhotepmp - There is a huge amount of hate-based crap on the Internet, that illustrates rather clearly the dark side of the emerging culture that Governor Bush was alluding to in his statement.

I would suspect if the Governor were given longer than a minute or two to fully explain his ideas on the subject, that you would see that he doesn't believe that the Internet is the CAUSE of the culture breakdown, but a contributor to it yes.

I believe that the hate-based, porn, and deviant content on the net is a definite contributor to the erosion of character, morality, and values in our society.... you bet. I've seen it in action.

If the net can increase business for businesses, you can bet the same approach will increase "business" for the hate-mongers and psychos in this country.

Whatever it is you want to justify, no matter how abhorrent, you can find a site or two (or a thousand) that tells you "Cool, good deal, go for it!" on the Net.

Please don't try to read something into what was said. You can't judge a whole position on a one or two sentence summary of a very complicated position.

Thats not very republican of bush-lite, whatever happened to personal responsibility? hehe, ofcourse there's no internet equivalent of the NRA so its a pretty safe statement.

"I believe that the hate-based, porn, and deviant content on the net is a definite contributor to the erosion of character, morality, and values in our society.... you bet. I've seen it in action."

heh, longing for the good ol days eh? There were no good ol days. People were just as bad and worse in the past, just in different ways. slavery/racism.. blah Also, people have complained about the erosion of values in their society for thousands of years.

Are you saying the Bush is the only one who has people telling him what to say? All politicians pay somone to tell them what they should and shouldn't say!

DANC:

<< Al Gore Actually did have a lot to do with the development of the internet. >>

--Newt Gingrich
When you perpetuate the truth, and call it a lie, what does that make you?

Bush is just pissed about all the websites that make him out to be the idiot that he is...and of course, point out all of his lies...
They use a flashlight "Al Gore invented the internet, haha" to try to blot out the fscking sun:
"I stopped drinking in over 10 years ago."

<< So why do we have videotape of you drunk at that wedding reception in 1994, Georgie?????? >>

I realize there are risks about children seeing things they shouldn't, but talk of censorship in any form always strikes me as an erosion of the second-most fundamental right we have (right after life).
