WASHINGTON (CNN) -- One of the most suspenseful moments told of President Bush's covert Thanksgiving trip -- that a British Airways pilot spotted Air Force One as it secretly made its way to Baghdad -- has not been confirmed by any BA captains in the air that day.

A White House official now says the story the president's pilot told was of an exchange between the British Airways plane and the control tower, about Air Force One, and there was no direct contact with Mr. Bush's plane directly.

Claire Buchan, White House spokeman, says she did not know where the tower was contacted during the 11-hour trip.

Don't you just hate it when the details of a good story come in conflict with reality?!

I heard that British Airways pilot launched two heat-seeking missiles upon getting AF1 in visual. AF1 launched countermeasures and narrowly avoided disaster! Wow, what a story! One for the Bush memoirs, for sure. ;)

Man, I heard that the White House gardener said that the red roses are blooming. It's actually the WHITE ROSES! BUSH IS A LIAR!

Can I join your club now?

When did the pilot of AF1 become the "Bush administration"?

Where to start . . .
Is this your official "post every bit of anti-bush news you can find" day?
It would take me a year just to catch up with backlog of bad Bush . . .

Man, I heard that the White House gardener said that the red roses are blooming. It's actually the WHITE ROSES! BUSH IS A LIAR!
It's easy to mess up the details in recounting an event that actually took place . . . it happens all the time. The current Bush 002 1/2 tale of intrigue is apparently the difference between an event that took place or it did not happen. If it did not happen then we aren't arguing over details . . . it's just a tall tale.

When did the pilot of AF1 become the "Bush administration"?
So the pilot of AF1 started this story?
According to a pool report from aboard Air Force One, reporters were told a British Airways pilot spotted the president's plane and radioed, "Did I just see Air Force One?"
I guess the pilot just hopped back for a little chit chat.

British Airways says none of its hundreds of pilots flying that day has said he made contact with Air Force One or anyone else during the president's covert Thanksgiving trip to Baghdad.
Maybe they are keeping it to themselves . . . kinda like Tony Blair's independent (and reputable) source for the yellow cake uranium story.

According to the President's spokeswoman, the pilot told the first version (which was passed along to the pool reporters on AF1). The story today is that AF1 was listening to BA talk to a tower. But for some odd reason BA cannot verify EITHER version of the story.

Why is this considered news? Seriously Why? What possibly could have gained by the "Bush administration telling a tall tale" such as this? News agencies need to quit wasting peoples time with worthless stories.

True. True.

But the really great part, the big secret because Bush doesn't want to appear immodest, is that Bush himself was at the controls when the BA advanced strike fighter launched its missles (Bush was giving flying tips to the AF1 pilot, he also trained Tom Cruise at Top Gun). Bush personally flew a full double loop with three barrel rolls to not only evade the missles, but to cause them to lock on to the BA jet. The BA jet was destroyed which is why their pilot hasn't come forward.

But it's a secret, so don't tell anyone.

Everybody likes a good story . . . and due to our duplicitous press who would have guessed someone actually tried to verify the story. Some would say the "News" aspect is highlighting this administration's difficulty with telling the truth.

Hmmm, how can Bush be so DUMB and so CLEVER that he can get away with all the EVIL that people say he gets away with? Fascinating!

Just curious, when you guys talk IRL, does every sentence end with:

BUSH IS A LAIR!!!!

-or-

BUSH IS A FABRICATOR!!!!

-or-

BUSH IS STUPID!!!

-or-

BUSH IS EVIL!!!

???? INquiring minds want to know....

I'm pretty sure this will end up a list of "lies" that Bush told at some point in the future. Don't worry though, the republicans did the same thing to Clinton. The difference is that Clinton gave the witchhunters cans of gasoline for his stake burning.

Let me see if I got this straight:
Someone associated with the Bushies told this tale to the pool reporters. Now either the informant was lying, embellishing, or telling the truth . . . it's difficult to tell. But to date, no one can verify the story. In fact, the Bush spokesperson has subsequently CHANGED the story. Maybe it's just me but whether the BA pilot was talking to AF1 or to a tower . . . seems like a significant detail . . . considering the ORIGINAL story (dialogue) doesn't make sense if the BA pilot was talking to the tower . . . and the NEW story cannot be substantiated.

If Bush gave strict instructions that his visit to the troops would be called off it was no longer secret . . . why on Earth would the AF1 pilot say ANYTHING? Did AF1 fly without a fighter escort?

It's perfectly reasonable to believe Bush played no part in any deception . . . assuming the original story was a fabrication. But I do think it highlights how information is shaped . . . if not created . . . to fit an agenda in this administration.

Wow, I don't know. Where did he say it was Bush's fault? Or was that a pre-emptive defense? :p

Speaking of White House Roses... I understand they have developed a mix of potting soil and horse poop that makes the roses thrive.. grow to enormous dimensions.. in fact, the gardner swears the Roses and all the Bushes thrive on the horse poop.

Boy, the Bush-haters must be absolutely seething. Look at the kind of crap they have to go dig up to try to de-rail Bush. Economy is up, tax-cuts worked, and Bush has (stupidly) given in to their demands for prescription drugs, protectionism, and the like.

Bush has screwed up, a LOT. But given all the dumb spending bills he's supported, I still have to support the man because of the great job he's done on defense, which is the main (and should be the only) reason the government should act.
