She is getting way too much money for this, especially considering she deserves none of it. On the scale of bad things that can happen to a person, a verbal grilling is just about on the lightest end of it. How about this money goes to people that are suffering real tragedies where money could actually make a difference.

It's parents these days that are more irresponsible than their kids. It's parents these days that want to befriend their kids, instead of teaching them something in life. They want to go shopping, get their nails did, etc.

Quit hanging out with your kids like it's another episode of 90210 and be a fscking parent! It doesn't take a beating to be a good parent, it takes respect, role modeling. If you're "friends" with your kids, they treat you like a friend where there's backstabbing and gossiping.

Of course they did, what's your point?

If getting made fun of by a group of pea brains is all you have to do to make even a 10th of that kind of money, sign me up. No one should really care what some pathetic group of 13 year old's thinks anyway. Their opinions carry about as much weight as an internet troll, it's meaningless tripe being spewed at a wall to see what sticks.

$678,930 with 15 days left.

The story has lost momentum, I'm guessing it will end anywhere from $750k-800k?

I am not for corporal punishment as I don't think fear is a good way to get respect. I would ground them and not let them watch TV, surf the internet or have mobile phones. If they wanted to buy something they would have to work and pay for it themselves.
This isn't the norm anymore?

Me:"Mom, can I have...."
Mom:"Do you have any $$?"
Me:"Nope."
Mom:"Did you rake the neighbor's yard like they asked?"
Me:"Nope."
Mom:"Well, you must not want it then."
:colbert:
Adult me:"Thanks, Mom."
I tell you what, when I was a boy, and I fucked up and my parents whopped my ass, I never did it again. When they just took away my stuff, and put me in my room, it had little effect on me.
2nd.

Just now stumbled upon this, wowza. That lady is getting paid for her abuse big time.

She does acknowledge on a good morning America that she believes the money should go elsewhere. Sounds as if she will donate some to down syndrome research, as she has a grandchild with that disability.

I'd guess she's still keeping some, and rightfully so. It was raised for her, so I can't see a reason why it isn't alright.

As for the kids, if I could identify one of those kids as my own, I can't even begin to think of the punishment that would ensue. The sense of entitlement in children these days is appalling. You're a kid, respect your elders. The really need to give these monitors spanking paddles. Every single one of those fuckers deserved a good whollup.

I predict that someone is going date her and start to separate her from all that money.

Seems to have lost of a lot of momentum, unless there is a late rally should end around $684k.

Looks like it squeaked passed $700k before finally ending. Good for her, she should keep as much as she wants. Giving to charity is nice but in this case SHE was the cause people chose to be charitable about and give to, so keeping the money is what most of the people would want her to do I would think.

I would donate money to a cause that would make these kids' lives miserable forever.

They should have been arrested and sent to jail. That'll show them the real meaning of abuse.

As stated above, the issue is parents who are afraid to discipline their children.

That surprised me, probably got a last minute rally. Hooray for Karen and her family.

That's great if she donates some to charity but she and her family could really use the other $$$. It's despicable what those kids did to her, I wonder how long she endured that?

I'm pretty sure this wasn't the first time, and it wasn't recently that those kids did this. If anything, been a long time coming.

I bet that there won't be this much money donated towards the victims of the Aurora shooting. :(
