bus master drivers problem

I have a 2 year old machine with an Asus motherboard (p4t-e). When I first configured the machine 2 years ago the bus master drivers loaded fine. I just re-loaded windows and now after I load the bus master drivers the machine hangs during boot (I have to hit ctrl.alt.delete to unfreeze it and boot). The only difference between now and then is then I used fat32 and now I'm using ntfs.

The machine seems to be running fine now without these drivers. Does Windows XP automatically load it's own equivalent of these drivers during installation so I don't have to worry about this?

Yes.

Windows XP has native support for Bus Mastering
(meaning it has the drivers built-in).

If the drives are working properly, then do nothing.
If the drives seem sluggish, you can try installing
Intel's Application Accelerator to speed things up.
