Burnt plastic, now I feel sick

There was a plastic food container on the back burner. I know, it should not have been left there, anway I turned the wrong burner on. The plastic just melted a little but man it stinks terrible. 48 degrees here but I have all windows open. How long does it take for the smell to go away and how dangerous is burnt plastic toxin wise?

It really helps if you have an air filter system running....a lot =0)

When there's burnt ramen, it takes almost a day or so for it to be fully taken out. That's with fans working.

Just throw it away and get a new one.

Mmmm... ramen! 😀

Of course I threw it out. I am more worried about the dangers of all the toxins in burnt plastic.

I'm pretty sure I've read that cops burn some coffee on the stove to cover up a corpse odor, try it on your toxic plastic smell.

plastics are polymers, like polyethylene when they break down due to heat they will likely be monomers or short polymers of the same compound..... i would guess...
