Burnt cds do not work in windows 2000.... WTF?!

This has been pissing me off:|
All of my Maxell brand cds don't work in windows 2000, whenever i try and look at the files on the disc it gives me the error "E:\ is not accesible. Incorrect Function."
The drive spins up normally and the light is on, so i have no clue what is wrong, they all work fine in win98, but that is a pain to restart, just to get a file off.

any help appreciated,
thanks Trek

i have this problem too sometimes and i dont know what it is. this is what can bring a win2k system down. it sucks. anyone know if this is a 2k thing?

First, Have you installed the Lateset ASPI driver?

Second, are you sure its W2K and not your CD-Rom that isn't reading these disks?

Third, well, I don't have a third, but if I think of anything else I'll let you know...

Do the discs have an autorun feature and are you simply double clicking the icon in "My Computer" or are you right clicking and choosing explore? Some Win 9x autorun programs won't run under Win 2K. Otherwise, try using your CDRW drive to read the discs, that last method has usually worked for me.

I don't get it. I run burnt CD's in Win2K all the time. The only time I had a problem was when I installed a Kenwood 72X in my system. That wouldn't read burnt CD's so I returned it within 24 hours and got an Acer 50X.

Ive had problems with poorer quality CDRs.
Maxell and TDK to be specific.
Otherwise 2k has been on issues like that.
Update all drivers, not much else.
