I just copied a cd to an iso image on my hard drive -- now does anyone know how I can mount this image?

I.e. use this as if it were a cd, but on the hard disk? I thought there would be an option by right-clicking on the icon, but no such luck

Thanks!

what do you need the whole disk on the hard drive for? are you trying to do remote install or do you need it for updates on hardware? If it's for updates, just make a directory called Cab and copy the .cab files in it. then whenever it asks for the cd just direct (using browse) it to the cab directory.

EDIT: Dis-regard this post. Read it wrong. explanation 3 posts down

Nero 5.5 comes with something called ImageDrive. It creates a new fake cdrom drive useful for testing isos.
Nero is a 10MB download, though.
There are other programs that will do this, too.
fakecd is one. It's an 8k download. I think I found it on simtel.net

This is for my laptop, which is really thin and cool, but which has no cd drive built in. And the software is roadmapping software that I want to use when in the car, etc, so it would be nice if I didn't have to carry the stupid dock with me all the time. I'll try that cab directory, though.

 sorry! i just re-read your post and noticed i made a mistake. i thought you were talking about placing your win 2k files on your hard drive. the cab files are on your 2k disk so dis-regard the previous post.

just woke up and feeling groggy and think i'm catching a cold :disgust: go with stirling's method.
