Burning WMA files

Hey guys, my dad dled some music from the buy.com store a few mins ago that were in .wma format, so I selected them all and burned them on an Audio CDR using windows media player. The CD burned fine, but when it plays in a portable cd player, car cd player, etc., it is very, very scratchy. It plays fine in the computer drive, though. What's the matter?

Edit: Thinking it might work now, attempting to rip it into an mp3 format.

Your goal here is to go to an Audio CD? Why are you converting them from WMA to MP3 now?

Really it if sounds fine on your computer it seems more likely a burn quality issue. I'd try different media and/or burning slower.
