ok i rebuilt my computer with the specs in my profile. but i kept my plextor dvd burner and put it in the new machine. in my old machine everything worked fine. i could burn video to dvd out of pinnacle or dvd shrink or whatever and it worked fine. now with my new build after i burn the dvd and put it in dvd player i get serious pixelation and it skips a ton. so much you can't even tell whats going on. why?

i haven't changed anything. im burning at 8x (dvd burner supports 16x) just like i used to with same dvds doing same process. any idea why?

are you using the same media?

it could be software related also.

which drive are you shrinking to?

are there other softare programs running while you are shrinking or burning?

yes im using the same media. i am shrinking to my main drive then burning to dvd burner. no i don't do anything else while it is running.

ive also tried burning at 6x or 4x and still same result. its possible my burner has gone bad because i tried burning a cd today and it finished fine but could not be read by the computer. i don't see how it could have just gone dead moving it from one case to another. i was careful.

My Samsung was like that. It was fine in one pc, then putting it in my current one,
decided to do the same thing w/ shrink. I tried firmware upgrades, but that did
nothing but waste more dvds. With my new NEC, I've backed up more than 50 of
our movies w/o a hitch. Maybe it was my switching to an Nforce4 mobo that my
samsung didn't like... now its been relegated to just dvd playing or cd burning.

Sounds like the drive is going bad. If you couldn't burn a CD properly, and DVD's are not working, you need to get a replacement.

Is the same DVD having the same problems when played in a stand alone DVD player? If not, it's your box.
