I have a situation in which I think some of you guys can help me out. I current own the Sony DVP 530D dvd player. I also have the ALpine DVA-5200 indase DVD player installed in my car. Both of these players seem unable to play burned VCD's or even burned music cd's. These same cd's work fine in other cd players. I purchased some VCD's a while back and these worked fine in both of these players. I am thinking those cd's must have been "pressed" rather than burned with a cd burner. I currently own the Pplextor 12/10/32 IDE burner and used Clone CD to make an exact copy of the working VCD's, but the burned copies still did not work in these players. I am using K Hypermedia (also tried sony brand CD-RW blanks) from Outpost. These burned cd's even work in my 7 year old AIWA shelf system......... Could it be the software I'm using to burn them with? Even tho the burned copies work elsewhere? Thanks

My recommedation would be to try them on a friend's DVD player. VCDs that I have made worked on my Pioneer 503, but not on my friend's player, which was a newer single-disk Toshiba (don't know the model #).

Most DVD players will NOT read CDR, CDRW, VCD, etc... When I bought mine I did alot of research into this because I needed one that would. I do not believe that any Sony players have the ability to play these discs (It was aobut 6 months ago since I did the research so newer models are problobly out though). I have a pioneer DVC-503 and it will play anything. Go to Audio Review.com and see if anyone has posted about your particular player.

Jeez I also have the Pioneer 503, it's the 5 disk tray right. connect that to a Pioneer D509S and you have a kickass system. It reads cdr's and cdrw's. I've done a cpl of vcd's already.
