Burning software?

I'm buying an OEM optical drive with DVD-RW/CD-RW capabilities and was looking for some recommendations on software for it. I'd like to just be able to burn DVDs and CDs from my computer, nothing too fancy. Is there a solid freeware program I can get that won't bog down my system or come packaged with a bunch of spyware, or should I go ahead and spend a little money to buy something?

I looked in the Freeware list above, but what is "ISO"? Other than that the list was pretty short.

Thanks in advance!

P.S. For reference, the drive I purchased is this Samsung.

I agree with ImgBurn its a great little freeware program and CD Burner XP is nice but it's got some bug and its slower then slow in Vista. The bug was supposed to be fixed after the New Year. A lot of people mentioned Ashampoo Burning Studio 8 in other threads so I decided to check it out. I liked enough to buy it, which here is a link for 50% off that I found on another site.

For $25 its not a bad program, kind of like Nero back in old days when it was small and compact.

I use Ashampoo Burning Studio 8 on my PC with XP and it's excellent. In fact I've completely switched from using Nero to Ashampoo. I strongly recommend this software to anyone who wants to buy a great burning software. :)

I've been using CDBurnerXP for several months and have never noticed any slowness on Vista. I don't do a ton of burning though; probably 3-5 times a week.

I like imgburn since you can know exactly what format your discs will be. Useful for me when burning data to be used between both windows and linux stations at work.

It looks like Ashampoo Burning Studio 8 is $49.95 (the $25 is for Volume User orders) And I could not find anything on their website as the policy on Minor or Major version changes. Do users need a new license key or will they need to pay for upgrades to next release (V9 for ex) ? ?
