i have a bin/cue image of a certain vcd. it also has a .sub file, i'm guessing this is the subtitles for it. which programs do i have to use to make use of this .sub file (or am i totally misinterpreting what this .sub file is for?)

You can't have subs for a VCD, only for a SVCD. With a VCD, you would need to make a permanent subtitles (embedded within the movie file). With a SVCD, you can have a selectable subtitle (external) but not many stand-alone dvd players will read it & none of the dvd software will read it (i.e., PowerDVD, WinDVD).
