Burning problems with Nero and Gigabyte Combo Drive

Whenever I try to burn an audio CD, the read buffer and used read buffer are always screwed up. When one goes up, the other goes down and so burning a cd takes forever. Anyone have this problem? The only update I could find for my optical drive was a firmware update and I want to use that as a last resort.
