While I'm burning simple things to back up using direct cd my computer reboots itself. Even using cdrwin it sometimes while burning will just randomly reboot itself. I had ez cd creator installed, and I read that ez could also be causing random reboots. I have a brand new 16x plextor, and I've wasted about ten cd's trying to back things up and the computer keeps rebooting while I'm burning. I was un-installing ez cd creator and I put a cd into the plextor, and when It closed, it rebooted. Please help me out to troubleshoot this problem.

does it sound like the plextor could be possibly defective? what could be the problem here? i need you guys help, and i need it now! thanks everybody!

It sounds like your power supply is not able to handle the burner. How big is your power supply?

250 watts. it came with my enlight case. i think its a deer or something like that. not really sure.

hmm, i was thinking it was the ez cd creator. im going to try more tests. i just came back from a fresh format. ill install cdrwin and see if the problem persists. if it does, ill pick up a new power supply tomorrow.

I had some trouble with Nero when I had EZCD Creator in the system tray. When I starting shutting down my Adaptec Create CD down before I burned with clone or Nero...no more trouble. Also, maybe check your data cable?

I had the same trouble when I first got my plextor cdrw. A new power supply took care of it.
