Good Day,

I am trying to copy a region 2 DVD in my region 1 Samsung lightscribe dvd burner. It wnats me to change my drive region from 1 to 2 and says that I can only do this 4 times. Are there any programs I can use to take of this region issue and burn this dvd to be shown in NTSC devices?

Thks

Some drives can be made to be region-neutral and/or infinitely selectable. See the forums at cdfreaks.com for the details.

You need a program like DVDFAB which will remove the CSS
and the Region Coding ... you can then burn it anywhere you
want.

A PAL DVD won't output to an NTSC device, if you're talking about most stand-alone DVD players.
There are some "mult-standard" stand-alone DVD players that can do that, but most cannot.
A multi-step procedure would be required, if you wanted to:
Disable copy protection.
Rip the PAL DVD to hard drive, then re-code for NTSC.
Then burn to a new DVD.
I'm unaware of any simple method of doing so. Especially difficult would be: getting the lip-sync correct.
A PC could more easily be used for playing a PAL DVD, and using the video card's S-video ouput to an NTSC TV.

There is no such thing as a "PAL" DVD, in terms of color encoding. PAL mastering does 576 lines and 25 fps, while NTSC uses 480/30.

Drives also read any region media no problem. It's the frontend software that is written to reject non-matched regions.

AnyDVD, or Linux for that matter, don't do that region check, and you'll find that there is absolutely no technical barrier to overcome. Just use the right kind of software for the task, and you'll be able to do it.
