hey all,

I remember reading a post that mentiond that you cant burn music cd's beyond 8x without errors. i didnt pay attention then cuz all i had was a cheap a$$ 4x burner, but now i got a plextor 16x burner and i am wondering if this is true. if so does this apply to burning wav files, copying music cd's, or both? and is there a software or hardware fix?

thanx

I never heard of this before!

I burn everything at 16x, granted I don?t burn a lot of discs, (probably less than 1 per week), but I never had a problem at 16x with music.

is that just copying music cd's? or do you do the whole converting mp3's to wav and burning them to cd deal as well?

What I do is, copy the various tracks from the music CDs onto the hard drive in WAV format. Since I have space to burn, I don?t use the MP3 format - That way I don?t have any compression loss either.

I?ve also copied whole CDs (to use in the cars) directly from a CD/DVD drive to the burner, without any problems.

Escalade, you should use Monkey Audio. It's a lossless compression of WAV files so you save lots of space and your music sounds identical to the original WAV. It also has a Winamp plugin so you can play those files from winamp :).
