Burning MPEG to VCD

This may not be the right forum for my question, if not, I'm sorry. But, here we go. I ripped the info off of one of my dvd's and have it encoded to mpeg. Seems that I should use the VCD option in NERO. But, at the end of the burn, there is no mpeg file, just assorted files and a .dat file in one of the folders. The cd will not autostart either. I finally got Media Player to play the file today. Should there be a mpeg file on the cd and should it autorun when I put it in the pioneer dvd or Plextor cdrw?

Thanks.

nope the mpeg file will become .dat in the cd.
I don't think windows will autoplay vcd unless you install other software
than windows media player (ie: powerdvd). Another software that will autoplay vcd that I know is ATI Multimedia Player.

If you want to run vcd manually you can run those .dat file under windows media player.

No. The video data is stored on the VCD w/ the extension .dat

<< and should it autorun when I put it in the pioneer dvd or Plextor cdrw? >>

No, unless you have some 3rd party software that will auto play VCDs/DVDs. (I think PowerDVD does this if you configure it to.)

The same thing happened to me on my first attempt,I got 4 folders on the disk, one was an mpeg folder with the clip in it.

Seems like it should autostart but no luck on mine either,so a bump for you & hopefully someone will have an answer for both of us.

The setting in PowerDVD will not autoplay a VCD for me. Oh well, at least I can play it.
