Burning in Win2K stalls system

I have the Plextor 8/4/32A and I use Nero 5.0.1.3. I have the 1.07 firmware for the burner. Whenever I try to make a CD the used read buffer reaches 99% and the burn process reaches 3%, then it quits and stalls. Anyone else have this problem or know how to fix it? I've already disabled the auto-insert-notification before anyone else suggests doing that. And I don't know if this matters, but I didn't have this problem until CompuGuru and I traded video cards back. I have no idea how that would cause a problem, but... Any way, I have a lot of CDs to burn and I need help.
