Right now here is the situation

cpu is e6600, cooler is zalman CNPS9500
stock voltage
OC to 3400
ram is 1G 800mhz

temp is follow:
easytune5/speedfan show as 67C under load
core temp show 75C under load
easytune5/speedfan show as 47C idle
core temp show 60C idle

Is this normal or did I screw up somewhere?

Thank you!

Did you remember to put thermal paste on the heatsink? 😛

Seriously, specs are needed... motherboard, bios, etc. Is the case properly vented? What does TAT say the temps are? etc...

forgot to mention system temp is 44, thank you.

What could be wrong tha the reseating could fix?

specs are
GIGABYTE GA-965P-S3
latest bios v6
I put on AS4
case has front and back fans, shouldnt be related because system temp is fine? or is it? 44c
what is TAT?

44 is way to high. You should not see temps into the 40's on 965p. Try taking the side of the case off and see if it helps a bit. I would recommend reseating the heatsink just to make sure the temps on the cpu are right. I think you case is just very hot and that is causing the cpu to be hot though.

The other question is what is your ambient temperature?

TAT is Intel Thermal Analysis tool. But in my experience it taps onto the same probe as core temp, at least I get the exact same temperatures.
Somethings definitely wrong somewhere for you, I have comparable ambient temperatures, though on a i975x chip set but I never get temps over 70 - and that's with my fans under volted to the point where I almost can't hear them over the hdd-hum.

What kind of case do you have?

i have 37-40C idle and 60-63C FL dual prime with my E6600 oc`ed at 3ghz, with everything at stock. intel hsf ~1700rpm with AS5. how did u install that zalman?
