I really want to burn a couple videos I have on my computer to a CD-R in a format readable by my PS2... is there any way that I can burn something in a DVD format or something? Is there any specific file format that DVD players read? Is there any program that will burn DVDs to CDs?

Thanks.

I'm gonna take a guess here and say no, I think DVD's use a different kind of laser than CD-RW. Of course I could be completely wrong too. :)

Does your PS2 read Video CD's? VCD is the only video format you can burn on a CD-RW that plays in some DVD players.

EDIT Of course you can't burn a DVD-disc on a CD-RW drive, but you can burn formats that play in the proper players. Most DVD player support VCD these days, but image quality is poor.

dear god. i just bought a 60 dollar dvd-rw drive. why the hell didn;t i just BURN MY DVDs IN MY CD-RW DRIVE.

no you can't burn dvd in cd-rw drives.
however
if you want to meant to burn dvd format to a cd then it might be ok.
i believe dvd video uses mpeg2 compression with bitrates upto 8000 Kbps.
you could try to encode your video to a lower bitrate (maybe 1000-2000) and burn it to a cd-rw.

you could also try doom9.org forums for more detailed help (what i would do. this is not really a question for AT video section). i suppose its possible.
