I got a Nec 3500AG burner with the hacked firmware that are capable of burning at 12x on an 8x disc. Anyway, I just bought a 100 pack of Ritek 8x DVD+R. So when I burn movie stuff (encoded anime file such as Xvid/OGG) to those DVD+R, should I burn at 8x or 4x? When burn at 4x, will it get better quality than 8x?

Thanks

Try this firmware and burn at the media's rated speed and you'll be fine. Check out the scans on those pages. Effing amazing.

Actually, I'm currently using the 2.C8SE firmware after I read about it compare with other firmware. Well, I just don't know which speed to use on my 8x DVD+R. 4x vs 8x...which gives more quality.

... did you even look at any of the quality scans in that link? Good firmware and media will give you excellent burn quality even at 16x. But if you insist on burning at 4x, you'll just be wasting time, while the end result will be no different than 16x.

Oh I see, I though that burning at lesser speed will make the burner burns more careful than at max speed. Maybe it just a myth that I heard on the internet. Anyway,I guess I'm going to burn it at the media speed, which is 8x. Thanks
