Burning CD/DVDs if a computer has Aleuron virus

Hi,

My grandparents have the Aleuron virus and would rather not lose any of their pictures they've offloaded onto their computer. I was doing some reading and it looks like if I use a USB drive, the computer I plug it into will also get infected with the virus too. Is it possible to burn the images to a CD or DVD and then use it to transfer the files to other computers without also transferring the virus?

According to the wikipedia page, Windows Defender Offline will remove the virus.

Maybe you could create the Windows Defender boot drive (DVD, CD or USB thumb drive) and they could try using it to remove the virus.

If that doesn't work, you could look into creating a Ubuntu Live CD to boot the computer with and use that to back up the files.
