burning a Safedisc 2 protected backup

I bought my son a new game and it is protected by Safedisc2. Since he shuttles between my place and his mother's house, it is always a good idea to have a backup. Discs get left at one place or another and eventually, lost....

Anyway, the safedisc2 protection is pretty nasty - so nasty that it sometimes prevents installs off the original cd.

So far I have made one try at making an image with Blindread and writing with Blindwrite. My burner is a Smart and Friendly turbosomething or other (actually a Ricoh MP7060A) which is theoretically able to burn safedisc2 backups with blindread/blindwrite....

So far, whenever I try to burn a copy of the image produced by Blindread, I get 90 percent through the burn and my puter just locks up tight and needs to be cold booted.... Using SAO Raw to do the burn...

If anybody has any tips, I would appreciate it. At the very least I can avoid having my girlfriend see the 85 porn links that pop up whenever you try to surf for information on backing up copy protected cds!

TIA

Lmandrake,

I went through safedisk2 "hell" while trying to make backup copies of my son's games. I found the folks on the forums over at CDR Info to be very helpful. FWIW, I ended up replacing my *ancient* 2X SCSI Ricoh with an Acer 1208A ($100). I use my Plex 40X to read and the Acer to burn. Works just fine and no more worries about having to replace my boy's CDRs.
