Burning a .dvr to a dvd

I have a .dvr file is basically a tivo recording of a news show using mce. i was wondering if its possible to burn the file to a dvd where i can watch it on a standalone dvd player? if so how would u go about doing this?

i have tried burning the file to dvd using media center and NTI CD & DVD MAKER, the file will work on the computer, but wont work on a standalone dvd player connected to the tv.

 
A lot of the OEMs that sell MCEs include the software needed to do this. If yours doesn't have it, do a search online for sonicencoders.msi.
