Burner suggestions?

Hello all,

Well, my trusty Yamaha 6416S CDRW bit the dust tonight... so I'm shopping for a new burner. Speed isn't really a big issue as long as it's at least 6X. I have a Plextor 40X SCSI CD right now, but I dunno whether to get IDE or SCSI for the burner... Willing to spend maybe $200...

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Dave

SCSI is really "the way to go" when purchasing a burner. From the IDE CD-Recorders I tested, they don't compare to my 4X SCSI CD-R. Even though I only tried 8X IDE Burners.

I recommend IDE but it is up to you. No matter which you decide on, you should get the best quality possible because CD-RW drives seem to be the most likely component to fail. I have had 2/2 fail. One was a cheap one (JVC) but the other was a good one (Panasonic/Compro). It sounds like the best currently is Plextor.

If you already have an SCSI card then go SCSI. I would not recommend IDE unless it's a Plextor BurnProof.
