Burner not recognized?

Folks,
I just recently purchased a used Lite On 48X CD-RW, without the software CD. After installing the drive and installing a Nero version bundled with another Lite On it refuses to see anything but a virtual drive. In the past I've had Nero see an unsupported CD-RW and state that it was unsupported but it at least sees the drive. Right now in device manager under properties it IDs this as a CD-ROM, not a CD-RW. Could this be DOA? Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.😉

Rick I had that happen a couple of times on new install burt when I downloaded the Demo of of Nero's site it was all good. I e-mailed them about it and they replied that I most likely installed the incorrect OEM version that was meant for another OEM Drive....I have so many of them that I wasn't going to debate the issue.

Many Nero oem versions only support the drive that it came with. If the drive is seen in the bios and windows has assigned it a drive letter, that is your problem.

52x bundled with software isn't backwards compatible with the 48x Liteon burner..and usually the 52x Liteon bundled Nero is Express as well.

Yep gang, it's seen in the BIOS, and device manager, and it's been assigned a drive letter. I was afraid that was my problem. The Nero CD I tried to use actually came with a 32X Lite On. I was hoping that it would just look for a Lite On drive and maybe not be so specific. Thanks for all your help folks.🙂
