I just recieved my Lite On CDRW 32x12x40 (retail) from newegg the other day. Easily enough, I installed her in my machine. Installed the drivers and the handy Nero burner program and all seemed well. Now, I don't burn a lot.....yet, and I use my Toshiba DVD as my primary drive for game/audio cd play.

Well, after a day had gone by, I decided it was time to test out a quick burn of some mp3's. I reach over for a blank cdr, and open the drive. She opens like I'd expect, and I load the cd in. I press the open/close button on the drive only to be left with the cd staring at me as if it didn't want to go in the dark hole. I waited patiently and watched for the activity light, nothing.

I wait a more than reasonable amount of time (about 2 minutes as I went to get a drink) and still nothing. So I hit the button again. Nothing. Again. Nothing.

I try to lightly nudge the drive door closed, and I feel tight resistance. This door doesn't want to close, and won't let me do it. Oh well, when in doubt, I reboot. Nothing still.

Now, all I need is a trash can under the drive door, and I can play trash-ketball. Too bad I paid $84 bucks for a plastic "hoop" on the front of my machine.

I know it's a long version of such a short problem, but hey, it's not like I have much to do now since I'm not burning any cd's.

Please help if you can. I'd like to see if there are any quick fixes before I waste more money sending this back to Lite On.

Thanks,

Allen

I think the only way to really fix it would be to open up the drive itself, but that would probably void the warranty and screw up any chance of sending it back. I think you're just gonna have to RMA it.
