Ok so I burned myself on the lawnmower and decided to keep on mowing. I'm done mowing now and the part that I burned is now white and filled with puss or something. I feel some burning sensation and it is getting quite annoying. I don't want to pop it and ice doesn't really help much. Should I keep the spot on ice for a couple mins or what other solution do you guys recommend?

Fine fine pic. Just as a note i'm going on vacation soon so i'll have to self treat this thing. Can't be at the doctors place within 2 days. Besides today is a holiday:

Just to be first: amputate.

Soak it in cold water, with ice, for a long time.

You need to have someone in a clean sterile environment lance that puppy and clean it out.. you seriously don't want that thing to get infected or you'll be in a world of pain.

Thx for the advice, just wanted to know how long to ice it. :)
I was thinking of some icy hot, but i don't think that goes with burns well. :(

PIC added.

If you're going to ice it, make sure there's a layer of cloth between your skin and the ice. But cool is better than cold in this instance, so be careful with the ice. Make sure you keep that area clean with soap and water and pat it dry with a clean towel. Apply some sort of burn cream (neosporin, etc) and DO NOT break any blisters that may form.

DO NOT lance or pop the blister. The fluid that's created keeps the wound sterile, and protected while the underlying skin rebuilds itself.

Lot's of ice, and be careful not to bump it.

Why would you go to the doctor's office if it blisters? I've had blisters of all types of severity and if you just keep it clean it will heal up. Yes it will be painful for a bit; I don't know how to stop that, but just man up and deal with it.

Bah, I hope I wasn't exaggerating it too much since I did say I kept on mowing and it was only annoying. :D
Now if it was huge I would've stopped mowing and applied ice asap. Maybe even see if there is any doctors open today. (I'm sure there is quite a bit.)

Keep it clean and dry. If it blisters, don't pop the skin (That skin is keeping the wound inside sterile).

Yes, it'll be painful - no reason why you can't take tylenol or advil or both to help with the pain.

You can use ice packs temporarily to ease the pain and swelling - or just keep the arm up.

Don't put any ointments or creams on it (some people advise antibiotic ointments, but there's no real evidence that they make any difference whatsoever) - it's best kept dry and covered with a soft non-adherent dressing.

If you're worried then a visit to your doctor in a day or 2 to make sure its healing properly, and for the nurse to advise on appropriate dressings would be sensible.

LOL some people do not get out much. That's a burn, that's all, big deal. After it blisters put some triple antibiotic cream and a big bandaid on it. Then wait for it to heal. wow. :)
