New at the burning biz. I burbed an audio CD, it plays fine on the computer, the home stereo CD player, but when I try to play it in the car CD player (not a portable type), it starts to play then stops. It seems to be reading but can't play. I burned the CD at 2X speed. Anyone have any suggestions to correct this?

If it's an older car cd player, it won't be able to read burned cds.
Also, if the cd is 80 min, some older players can't read them.

In my experience, car cd players are also generally more sensititive to low quality media, scratched media etc.

Go with good media, such as Kodak, Traxdata, or Vebatim DL+ for your car CD.

steverama, all the stuff above is good. Also, there was a thread in early December about the dyes used by different manufactures haveing less reflectivity and thus not reading very well. If I remember correctly the pthalocyanate (spelling?) dye has the most reflectivity and works best. Try different manufacturers. PLus the burn proof technology has helped a lot. It's also nice if you have a plextor;)

Maybe try 1X:(

What brand was the car system?

Well I burned a 3rd CD and tried it out in my car cd player. It works!!! And it was burned at 8X speed, and the CD-R is a Memorex. I guess the problem was that I hadn't selected Close session on my first cd. I haven't yet checked the 2nd one I burned, but since I had selected Close session, I'm sure it will be OK. Guess I'll be burnin' at 8X from now on!!! Just one thing though. I'll have to make sure not to go over my download limit (5GB) with my cable modem ISP. Thanks to all for your replies.

Well I live in Canada and Videotron is my cable modem service provider. My guess is that there isn't enough competition for them to bring the limit up. Their only high speed competitor is BELL with ADSL, but BELL hasn't been able to implement ADSL to all areas yet. What are the usual up-download limits for high speed access?
