Burn-Proof question

Sorry if this is posted in the wrong catagory, but I wasn't sure where to post it.

I have always used scsi burners so I'm not familiar with how burn-proof works. I will be installing a Sony ide burner in my brothers system with burn-proof.

Can I just install the burner & Nero 5.5.5.0, or does it need the software that came with it to have the burn-proof work correctly??
