Burn proof is the only way to go

I know that there are a lot of inexpensive CDR or CDRW units out there now, but if you have the extra money get one with BurnProof technology. No more coasters even on a slow system at 12x recording speed!

Too bad I've only seen this used on IDE CD-RWs so far.....

That's the only thing that's really stopping me from buying a Burn-Proof drive. I'd like the keep the drive SCSI.

it isn't necessary if you have scsi. Unless you're deliberately trying to slow the system down to a halt.

But with scsi you really should have a scsi cdrom...dont need it, but definetely better.

Ricoh has something that they claim is better: JustLink. There was a quick blurb on cdrinfo (site is too slow for me to link).

I think that technology would be useless for a SCSI drive...I burn and surf simutaneously all the time with my SCSI burner...

The Plextor 12 10 32 should be available with a SCSI interface soon... and with Burnproof (enhanced compared with the Burnproof of the IDE 12 10 32, the space between the point where it stopped and the point where it resumes will be smaller on the SCSI version).

hrm, could you turn off burnproof? Would it try to stop the burning if they system was just slightly becoming lagged.. like opening IE or something..

I have my imation/plex 8x20 and I did A LOT while burning. Running a hotline server, surfing, icq/aim, eurdora, and word.
