Burn one CPU, shame on you. Burn two or three, shame on me.

So, do any of you think it's unfair or unreasonable to decide NOT to sell to someone because they keep frying the parts you send them?

I mean, it'd be no question if you could PROVE incompetence, but computer parts are hard to "prove" anything if they are killed from being dropped, ESCD, etc.

The only "proof" that I have is that it is a very rare day when I pull a part off the shelf and it is bad, yet I get these people that insist that they got two CPUs or three CD ROMs, etc that are DOA. :Q

I just say, "thank you! Drive through please!" and drop them like a hot tater! :p

Just make sure you dropped them from a high enough building or they will just lay there and whine about being dropped.

Since DOA is probably covered by warrantee, I'd say that you're loosing way too much money on these people!!!!!!!!

Losing too much money from having them swap everything out or lose money by telling them to blow off?

Johnny,

Not unreasonable at all; a deal should please both the buyer and the seller, if one of them isn`t happy they should not commence in the trade.

Red: Whoever shipped the tray of K6s to you probably dropped the whole tray before they shipped them. When I used to crank out clones one after another for companies like Clear Channel and Borrell Electric, we would use K6s and I never got a bad on. This adds to my bitterness when I see a bad CPU. I can picture someone walking barefoot across a carpet floor with a CPU in their hand saying "look honey! I got a new CPU!".

vanderStoep: Yeah. Got an email Friday matter of fact where a guy I had replaced a CPU for before, which had phtsical damage on it and was replaced with a note saying "YOU NEED TO BE A LOT MORE CAREFUL WHEN HANDLING A CPU" said he needed an RMA number for the second CPU. I think I'm just going to give him his money back and tell him he needs to buy a Compaq. :(

It's perfectly reasonable to choose not to sell to people who are going to make you eat their mistakes. No harm done, they can shop elsewhere.

Sure, once you have completed the present deal in an honorable fashion, just say in the future, "sorry, not interested." You don't need to tell them the reason why, and be polite, but there's no reason to deal with someone who's going to make you miserable. The goal of any deal is for both buyer and seller to be happy with the transaction, after all...
