In theory Wireless connection , 11 Mb/sec (b=bit) is 1.3 MB/sec (B=byte).

The average functional transfer is 600-800KB/sec.

I just tried a real Burning.

Main Computer 1.1G with HP9100 (not burn proof).

Laptop CTX 266.

SMC Wireless Barricade, with D-Link USB Wireless card 25? apart no obstructions.

Mapped the Laptop HD to the Main computer.

Used Nero 5 - Nero first caches all the files to the HD on the main computer, if the cache process is successful it starts to burn form the cache on the Main's HD.

Goal: Burn 100MB of various files from Laptop to CDRW on main computer through the Network.

No other traffic on the Network.

Forced Nero into x2 burning (300 KB/sec). Tried two times, Nero failed in the caching process.

Forced Nero into x1 burning (150 KB/sec). Nero successfully cached at the first attempt.

Caching 100MB took 5 Min. Burning 100MB at x1 took 6 Min.

Whole process via network 11min.(100MB, data).

In contrast:

Copying the same files from the Laptop to the Main?s HD took 3.5 Min. Burning it at x8 two min.

Total time via regular transfer: 5.5 min.
