Is there a program that does this? I want to just select a whole bunch of files (not a HD backup) and have the software ask me to insert another disc once the current one is full.
hmmm, judging by the lack of replies I'm guessing there may not be such a thing. It's kinda funny 'cause I would have thought it to be such an obvious feature to include in any burning suite. Maybe someday Nero (my software of choice) will include such a feature. 🙁
Well, I just sent an email to: Nero Suggestions indicating the need for such a feature.
Anybody else wanting/needing such a feature please, by all means, send them an email and let them know. It honestly shouldn't be a difficult feature to implement.
I don't think burning would be a hard feature, but trying to read the cds would be hard. How would the cd drive know there are more cds for the data file?

Well, I'm not talking about one file. I'm saying as the CD gets filled up and there's not enough room left for the next file it says: "Hey! I'm full, put in another CD to continue", and then it picks up from where it left off. It'd just be nice and easier that way so I could simply drag my whole folder of mp3s in to be burned, rather than having to section them off 700MB at a time.
If you have 50MB left on a disc and the next file to be burned is 51MB, then it should eject the current CD and request an empty CD to continue. Obviously I can't burn files more than 700MB without splitting them up first. The convienience factor is worth much more than those 50MB to me anyway.
use burn to the brim http://bttb.sourceforge.net/
you can zip files, and then have burn to the brim fill up the cds, then you can drag the 'full cds' into nero or whatever burning program, and burn away
A burn program that has been rated A-1 in Europe is now available in the USA - look for WinOnCD by Roxio of Germany. It burns spanned CDRs as well as VCDs, ISOs, and all the rest.
Roxio Easy CD 6.0 will span across mutiple disc. Most files can be copied using explorer but files that are spanned over two disc will require roxio retrieve otherwise it will appear corrupted.
Easy Cd 6.0 is pretty good, I hated 4 and 5 but with 6 Roxio got the crap toghether. I hope Nero 6 is good otherwise I won't be switching back.
